The ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ exists to make the UK the best place in the world to research, develop and use the medicines and vaccines of the future.
Creating diverse and inclusive workplaces that deliver innovations to improve the lives of everyone in the UK is critical if we are to deliver on our mission.
This strategy sets out how the ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ can work with our members to help drive this change.
We will do this by:

Pharmaceutical Industry - Delivering a policy programme targeted at addressing health inequalities in the UK
- Refreshing ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ’s EDI policies
One year on
When we launched our inaugural Equality Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) strategy in April 2021, it was with the objective of setting down a marker for the priorities where we felt ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ could have most impact. The strategy is rooted in ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ’s mission to make the UK the best place in the world to research, develop and use the medicines and vaccines of the future, and is seen as being critical to our ability to deliver on our mission.
This update sets out our progress on the original Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
It summarises the steps we have taken in each area of work and our views on current status as well as an overview of the next actions we plan to take.
Workforce Report
Building on the work of the Science Industry Partnership (SIP), the ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ worked with members to create a baseline of current EDI policies.

ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ Confederation and ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ: An examination of health inequalities
An examination of health inequalities in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) care in the North West
Parts of the North West have some of the highest levels of COPD in England. Knowsley is the site of a national flagship programme to deliver respiratory services using a new community-focused care model.
An examination of health inequalities in diabetes care in Leicester
The Leicester City CCG area has one of the highest prevalences of diabetes in England. Leaders in Leicester have invested significant resources in prioritising up-to-date, evidence-based approaches to treating diabetes.
An examination of health inequalities in cancer care in Kent and Medway
The Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance brings together healthcare providers from across Kent and Medway, commissioners, hospices, patient representatives, voluntary and charitable organisations and the National Institute for Health Research, to transform the diagnosis, treatment and care for cancer patients.
